Republican Debate on CNN

Last night was the Republican Debate with the You Tube format that was used back in September for the Democratic Debate. The general consensus at our house was that the Republican Debate went much better. There were a few highlights.

There was some booing in the audience a few times…..mostly geared to questions that were answered by Ron Paul and Rudy Gulianni. Fred Thompson and Mike Huckabee probably showed the best. Mitt Romney had a close call on the Bible question. The others didn’t stick out very well in my mind.

One interesting point that didn’t come out until the end of the debate, which Anderson Cooper apologized for. was the “Hillary” plant. A retired Brigadier Army General who is a professed gay man asked about the “Don’t ask. Don’t tell.” policy. The candidates all stated that they didn’t see fit to change that current policy. It was working well and it would be left at that. Surprise, surprise…..as Gomer Pyle would say….the General works for Hillary. He heads up a gay activist group that is campaigning for her. Rumor has it that there were a couple others mixed with the questions. They chose his question because they felt it was a good question. After digging a little deeper…..Poor Hillary.

Speaking of Hillary….. Read more »

Presidential Candidates and Where they stand on the issues….

Who are they and what are they spinning? We all know they will say what the majority wants to hear….no surprise there. That is the game of politics. Bashing the current President and pointing out all of his mistakes is a major part of the game. Bashing the opponent and twisting any and everything that can be possibly twisted to make the other person look bad. That is also the political game. Can an honest mud free campaign be run? You’re kidding right?

It comes down to what issue you are willing to waffle on and what issue you won’t budge an inch. What are the issues? Depends on who you ask…….

I asked my husband. Some of the important issues we will be facing with the next President per Capital G Geek are……Who they will pick to replace the current aging Supreme Court Justices. Immigration, which he feels could possibly tear this country apart. Gay and Lesbian agenda. Socialized Medicine and Health Care. Foreign Policy. Social Security and Medicare/ Medicaid Programs. Education whether it be private, public or homeschooling. The list goes on……..and on……I’m sure you could add a few that I haven’t mentioned. Feel free to do so…. Read more »

The Season for Thanksgiving…..

It’s that time of the year again…..Thanksgiving. I can remember as a “young” girl when Thanksgiving was all about the Pilgrims journey and survival at Plymouth. That was the focus while in school. In case you are not in the know….I am 43 years young. I have to be young with a 14,12 and 10 year old running around my house.

There are actually two Thanksgivings recorded in our history but I can only remember being taught about the Plymouth Thanksgiving. There is one that even predates the Plymouth settlement and that is in Berkley Hundred in Virginia. I will not give a history lesson right now but it is food to search out.

Thanksgiving has become linked to shopping. Most of what I have heard has to do with what time the person plans on getting up to be in line for that big shopping day. I don’t doubt that there are those who may actually take the time out to consider what they may have to be thankful for….but our society in general seems to only focus on being thankful this one time in the year. Shouldn’t we be thankful everyday? Shouldn’t we be as thankful each day as we are during this season?

I am thankful for what God has provided for my family. I am thankful for the health we have and that my husband is able to provide for us in a manner that allows me to be at home raising our children. Am I thankful everyday? Do I lift my eyes towards heaven everyday and thank my Lord for the bounty we enjoy and even the sorrow we suffer through? Read more »

Photo Blog….updated

I updated the photo blog and changed the title.  It is now….”Looking through the Lense…”.

I just put pictures of the fish a little friend of mine tried hopelessly to catch.  Considering he was only 15 months old or so……The fish was faster….:-)

14 years ago today at 1:00am exactly……(Warning Picture Heavy)

…..the most beautiful little (not really at almost 23″ long) girl took her first breath. We didn’t know she was going to be a girl. Really……we honestly thought she would be a he. Had she been a boy, she would have been a “Charlie” instead of a “Colleen”.

For your enjoyment…..a few birthday pictures from dinner.
