I haven’t been ignoring my blog…..I’ve just been sick. I am now on my second round of antibiotics. It is all in my head so far and I hope it stays there….not inferring that it is imaginary but in my sinuses.
I especially want to prevent my oldest son from catching this nasty virus hitting everyone I know. It has the potential of putting him in the hospital. It settles in the chest and that is too dangerous for him.
Until I am feeling a little better and can devote some time to write….this will have to suffice. At least it won’t be the tuna fish……
I have been enjoying some of my quiet time by catching up on some sermons I have wanted to listen to. God has really blessed and convicted me through the preaching of His Word. Maybe I will feel up to sharing some of what I have learned.
The boys have agreed to fold my daughter’s share of the laundry in lieu of her reading aloud to them….please remember my children are 14,12 and 10. A few people I know think this is…..odd. I personally think this is awesome!!
I have just recently finished watching the A&E version of “Pride and Prejudice” and almost left you with Whitcomb’s farewell line……I of course know what the line is……Can any one else quote the line and the scene? With out looking it up…..

It’s the day before payday and here I sat trying to figure out what I was going to fix for dinner. I wanted something different. I knew I had tuna fish and thought I would do something with the tuna.
I have plenty of egg noodles. I had no mushroom soup. I was low on milk and had run out of powdered milk. I still have ground hamburger but didn’t want to do another hamburger dish…..so off to visit Google.
I thought I would see what is actually in tuna cakes. Tuna cake was typed into the search bar at Google and several recipes came up. I weeded through the recipes that required ingredients that I didn’t have on hand which didn’t leave me much to work with.
I found a recipe for Tuna Fish Cakes made with sweet potatoes. Now, I won’t mislead you into thinking I was wowed by the thought of mixing these particular items together. “YUCK” actually came to mind. I checked a few more recipes that were basically the same and they all had decent reviews. I thought I would give it a try………

It has been very cold here in Virginia. I know other states are experiencing the same cold and wet weather. I have a friend in Alaska who showed us her weather forecast and it was -10 with out the wind chill factored in…..brrrrrrr. I don’t envy her. I have another friend who won’t mention that dastardly word….****…..(snow). We tease her. Then her kitty’s stole her place in front of her heater. How dare they….
On days like this I want something to eat that is warm and filling. One of the things we would eat growing up was macaroni and tomatoes. I remember the big old house my grandparents lived in outside of Ravenna, Ohio. It was located in Macedonia, Ohio. This house was massive. It had a huge library with floor to ceiling book shelves and a lovely old stone fireplace. I would sit in front of the fireplace and dry my hair. It had the best hiding places in the window seats. One could curl up in the window seat, pull the curtains and sit all day reading. I should know. There were many a day while visiting them that I couldn’t be found. That was the same library that I read The Robe and The Silver Chalice so many times that I wore out the pages and the covers.

I have to take a break from our D.C. trip to post snow pictures. Sorry….but it’s a fact of life when you have children. They like to see their creations posted for viewing.
Before I post pictures, I must tell you that it wasn’t supposed to end up this way. They wanted the snow man to be as tall as their father. After it fell over twice they decided as tall as they were was sufficient. They were somewhat stymied by the choice of eyes, nose and mouth. They raided the kitchen and could only come up with those little hard candies….the cinnamon discs and the cinnamon sticks from my spice cabinet for a mouth….or what ended up being teeth.
Do you know what happens when you stick cinnamon discs in snow to make them look like eyes? You get eyes all right…..but it turns this innocent snow man into Frosty’s evil twin….Evil Snow Dude….who happened to be talking on the phone to my very dear friend Heather. ( I told you I would post it…)
I give you……Evil Snow Dude and his creators.
